microsoft error message

I have a Inspiron 5160 with windows xp.  When I go to the display properties i get a microsoft error that says
 
Run  a DLL as an APP has encountered a problem and needs to close.  Then I ge a rundll32.exe application error the instruction at 0x7d6ef5f0 referenced memory at 0x000000000.  The memory could not be read. debug or exe then what ever I click it closes.  I have down loaded a new video driver from the dell website but it does the same.  It will also give me this error in the safe mode.
 
I need some help

    Is Windows updated with all current critical updates?

    Do you have current, real-time antivirus and firewall protection?

    Have you scanned for and removed all spyware?

    If the answer to any of the above is no, it's past time for a thorough security sweep of the system.

    I have done all the things that you mentioned.  I did find an Adware POKAPOKA79.exe which was in something  called the Elite Tool Bar.  I have uninstalled the Elite Tool Bar and removed the pokapoka79 from the windows system files.

    Thanks,

    I got some updated Macafee Virus scan and spyware.  I had 2649 virus's and 31 spyware.  I cleaned it all up and the computer works fine now.  Thanks for the tip.
