I have a D630 with Nvidia NV-135M that has been running for a couple of years. Suddenly the screen went split and distorted - I struggled but could see what I was doing on the distorted screen.

However, it turned into something else after a couple of hours: already when booting the screen is split, I can see the distorted boot screens - both Dell and Windows - but when finalizing the boot process, the screen turns either blank or into a distorted black screen. The PC is obviously running as it should, without me seeing it... All lamps and sounds doing what they always have and the BIST test also went well.

During the last two days I have actually had a couple of hours with a working screen - and PC working "normally" - but not long enough for me to do what I need:

I have a new E6220 that I planned to do a WindowsEasyTransfer to, but without seeing the old screen, that's a hard job :emotion-7:

As I see it, I have two options: 1) Fix the screen issue and by that make it possible to transfer from my old stuff to the new one or 2) Just see to that I get the hard disk data and settings transferred without having the disk in my old PC.

What are my practical options as you see it?
