Go to SolutionStripped Antenna Wire?
I was trying to replace the screen of my Latitude E5500 and everything went smoothly except that stripped the black shielding of the antenna wires a bit, something like half an inch. The wires and their actual shielding are fine, though.
Is this a problem? Will the antenna short and die on me eventually? Should I put some electric tape around it?

Hi harmlesstoy,
Could you send us a picture of the same if possible? Does the wireless work fine on the system at this point?
I would advise strongly to try and put some tape on it if possible. However, we cannot guarantee when it might short out. But if the shield is frayed then there is a high possibility of it failing at some point and cause damage to any other part of the system.
Hello, thanks for your reply.
I tried taking a picture but it didn't turn out very good:

So I looked one up on Google:

A small dent on the 'glove' around the actual wires, that's why I thought it'd be fine with just some tape, specially considering it doesn't cover all of it.
...it'll be fine, right?

Hi harmlesstoy,
Thank you for the pics.
I feel that the wires are fine as well. It only the outer jacket which is a bit frayed. However, to be on a safer side, try to put a small piece of tape on it.

It should be fine - there's no bare metal wire showing.
