Dell 1390 / password limitations

I have a Dell D520 with the Dell 1390 card installed.  The card works on unsecured networks.  I have tried to log on to a secure (WPA) network with no luck.  It detects the network signal fine, but when I attempt to enter the password it will still not connect.  When I view the cofiguration screen for that connection, I noticed the password has been truncated to 8 characteers, not the 16 I entered.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I have updated the driver to the latest shown on the Dell support web site.  If I try to update the driver from the hardware menu, it says there is nothing newer.

The network key always shows up as 8 dots in the Windows Wireless network properties screen.   I have a 24 character password and it still shows only 8 dots.  I suggest that you are not entering the correct password.
