Hi, I would like to know what modem comes with the Inspiron B120 (manufacturer, model, etc.). Is it a fax modem?
Secondly, is it possible to connect to the internet (dial-up internet, not broadband) wirelessly through this modem or do I need to plug in to the phone line socket in the wall?
Don't see a quick answer to your question re: mfr and model, but the B120's Product Description page indicates that it is a v92 fax modem. You will have to plug it into a phone line to connect.
Please forgive my ignorance, I don't speak Computerese. We tried to plug the Linksys Network PC card from our old laptop into our new Inspiron B120 so we could connect wirelessly, but of course it didn't fit. Is that what an Express card is for (we already have a router), or is this machine simply not capable of connecting wirelessly? I tried "googling" for an answer but couldn't make heads or tails of all the jargon -- HELP!
DELL "pc' slots don't work with normal network cards, Late in 2006 or 2007 you can get EXPRESS CARDS. DELL never TOLD people about this. If you can return your B120 and upgrade to something with a builtin wireless card.
