Technical Help For DemensionE510

I spent 3wks trying to start up with DSL service and just received our desktop in time for Christmas, after technicians discovered I had to get fiber optic wiring in my home to be able to use DSL, they left me with what they say was their part and now I had to call Dell to find out why I couldnt connect to internet. Aftr spending many frustrating hours with tech support from Dell, their conclusion was to go back to m ISP, it was a nightmare.

Now today I spent 3 hours with the ISP & was told to go back to Dell. (How normal is this?) Dell had me on a voice response automated service which nearly drove me to want to throw my phone against the wall. After a live representative & a long explanation, she tells me she cant help me, going to transfer me.

Bottom line, I hung up. Hello I have a life too! Please someone help me, this is the final straw for me.

I was told the reason I cannot connet to the internet is because a Dell tech has to come and uninstall & reinstall my network connection? Hello I am totally lost and computer iletrate, I just dont know what to do anymore? Screens blank after we try to download security for protection from viruses, everything went blank, we reset, reconnect, ran cmd, etc., what can I do. Do I really need a tech? Trying to avoid leaving Dell and DSL all together.

Why do you need fiber optic to use DSL?  Unless it is a special requirement of your ISP, I have never heard of this.

I was told by Bell that I couldnt use DSL because the area was fiber optic wiring & I had to pay $100.00 to have their techs come & do whatever it is they do to be able to use DSL. Im not technical so I dont know, however after that mess, this past weekend we spend 3hours w tech support from Bellsouth &  their final conclusion was to call Dell & req a Dell tech, we got so aggravated because you call Dell, you get another country, they ask for reason for the call and after going thru the entire spull, I get told I need to be transfer to another dept, it was enough for me to start crying. I try them again on Sunday & spend almost 2hrs w Dell tech support who in the end decided Dell will send me a technician to my home. This is really all I wanted all along, but no one wld give me the chance to request one unless they exhausted all their avenues. I dont wish this mess on anyone. Thanks for responding.

The support team for both DSL and Dell are of no help ... I am having the same issues and can not get help from anybody  they both place blame on each other. So now I have a computer I can not use and am paying for DSL that I can not use.

Okay forget Bellsouth & Dell....what sort of error messages are you receving whenyou try and connect?

What equipment do you have to enable the connection?  DSL modem? Router?  Has it been properly configured?

Fiber Optic or not, the signal is still coming in the same way, just faster and cleaner over fiber so its not a fiber optic issue.

Both of you need to go thur some basics of setting up a connection and see what you might have done wrong.
