Wired networking

Systems:

XPS1330 - Vista Home Premium

Toshiba Tecra - XP SP2

Internet: BigPond Broadband USB wireless modem

Connection: crossover cable

1. Internet sharing: I would prefer the XPS to be the host; if easier for Tecra to be the host I can live with that.

2. File sharing one way: I only need the XPS to be able to send to/take from the Tecra.

Please, in responding, provide instructions in very basic terms.

Get the internet sharing working first. Both XP and Vista use 'Internet Connection Sharing' (ICS) for this. All the real setup occurs on the host computer.

Here are some instructions for vista, which is the computer you'd prefer to use it on if I read correctly:

Hi, did what you suggested and no joy until I listed the slave computer in Norton's as a trusted site - then all joy.
