csr generation problem for the RAC

I'm trying to generate a number of csrs to create ssl certs from to upload onto the RAC cards. Problem I'm getting is this. Locally, it works fine, I run racadm sslcsrgen, and after a wait, I'm left with the certificate request. Doing it remotely to another rac however with -r, I end up with a transport failure error and a zero byte csr file.
I've confirmed that the RACs can talk to each other, other remote commands like getsysinfo do in fact work. It's this csr generation that's giving trouble. Also, running the command with a status check (-s) on the host machine confirms that the csr is being generated.
I've tried increasing the timeout, logging the process with increased debugging value, but I'm pretty much stumped. Anyone have success with this? Problems?
