Server Administrator gets installed on the host. You do not want any other software running on the host. except maybe backup software. They are releasing OSMA 7.4 this month. I am waiting until then to install 2012 R2 and the Hyper-V role.
Thought it might, I was hoping that perhaps OpenManage would install just a small stub on the host and then run full version on a virtual server, perhaps opening a port in the firewall between the two. Unfortunately that's not how it works.
How does OpenManage get on if the hyper-V host is core-install only?

All hardware on a VM is virtualized. RAID Controller software goes on the host.
