you direct attaching the storage?

have configured correctly via Dell OpenManage ArrayManager and QLogic SANSurfer?

i have ever configure 3 units of PV660F in SAN network, with 2 PV-56F,8 server, all working well.

can you tell in detail about your configuration?may be i can help.

I figured it out.

The server has 6 NICs, 2 of them are 1gbps and 4 are 100mbps. When I copied files, I used the dns host name, and the server returned the first available IP address, targeting one of the 6 nics. So sometimes I hit the 1gbps card, another the 100mpbs card, thus confusing me on the speed.

On my end, the server I copyto had 1gbps nics, so I could not catch this sooner.

sory to confusing you. but i dare to bet, you have mistake about this storage.

PV660F is a SAN storage, you may configured as direct attached (DAS) or networking storage (SAN).

but one thing for sure, it's not a NAS (network attached),

so, PV660F can't be accessed by NIC networking card.

if you accessed it by NIC, the PV660F should attached to another server. and you accessed it as shared storage from the server.am i right??

to connecting server with PV660F, you must have Fibre Channel HBA, like Qlogic QLA2200, Emulex LP 8000 (both 1Gbps), or QLA2310 and Emulex LP9002L (2 Gbps). 4Gbps HBA are available.

Yes. you are right. I am attaching it to servers, and access it throgh the server. I am not using direct attach mode, rather I go through 2 fiber switches for redundancy. I use the Brocade 3800 16port 2Gbs swithces. ON the 660f, I used a transciever to convert the db9 copper fiber to SC interface, and then a SC-LC patch cable to connect it to the swtich. On the server side, I se the qla2342 2gb hbas and they work great.

The problem I had was that I was judging the speed of the 660f, and I end up having a network problem, rather then 660f problem. :-)
