962 right cartridge incorrect

I am extremely frustrated and disappointed in your 962 dell printer.  From what i'm seeing on the internet, i'm not the only one.  We have replaced the right color cartridge twice and after phoning for support/help was told to go purchase yet another one.  how many times does one have to keep hitting our head against the wall before we realize it hurts?  It's not the cartridge!  Or if it is, then are all your cartridges defective?  We will NEVER buy a dell printer again.  It is going to be cheaper to buy a new printer (not a dell) than to continue buying new cartridges.  Anyone find a solution to this problem?

Hi, I had the same problem with my 962 AIO printer also. It was corrected when I replaced the cartridge.

Try this simple test to see if it is the printer; remove the right cartridge, the printer error should now say that the right cartridge is missing. If this is the case then most likely the cartridges that Dell has been sending you are bad. Dell has an 8 month warranty on the cartridges so you shouldn't be paying for them if they are less then 8 months old.

I was just as frustrated as you are, but replacing the cartridge fixed the printer.

I also would like to add that I feel that Dell should post or send an email to all users about this common error code. When you call in to talk to customer service they just want to take your $40.00 to answer an question on an issue that is very common. This is giving Dell and Lexmark a bad name.

I hope that someone from Dell and or Lexmark are reading all these emails and they take action soon.

    Mario

I am also having the same problem. What is the most annoying and frusterating is that there is still plenty of ink left in my cartridge. So by replacing it to solve the problem I am wasting money.

Is there ANY other way to correct this problem?

    I have tried

A)Uninstalling and re-installing the entire printer
    B)Uninstalling and re-installing the cartridge

Is the anything else I can do? Maybe a driver I can download that will correct the problem??

Thanks for your posts.  It took me three different cartridges before I found one that my printer didn't reject.  But at least it works now.  What a waste of money!

I had the same thing happen twice.  Half-way through the first color cartridge (#J5567) the printer rejects it as incorrect.  The first time, they sent me another for free with a different number (#M4646).  It looked exactly like the first one, big surprise.  Half-way through that one, the same thing happened.  So tonight (9:30 p.m. EST) I called the same number I have always called for the printer, only to be told I had the wrong service department.  This person did not have the number I needed to call but said he could transfer me to someone who did.  So I was transferred to someone who had the new Gold (what a joke) Service number.  I called that, waited some more, only to be told that my warrantee had expired.  But, that person said, I could call the fee-based service people so I did that, only to be told they could not help me because my computer is used for business.  I must have given them my info four times and no one picked up that I was calling from a business.  Then, they gave me another number to call, which, of course, was closed.  Did they tell me before I called it that no one would be there?  Of course not.  I am so #&*!@# at these people.  I have had great service from Dell prior to tonight, but tonight's experience leaves me wondering if I will ever buy anything from them again (two desktops, a laptop and a printer thus far).

I have just decided to replace my present printer with a new NON Dell printer. Judging from the other posts here, the problem isn't exclusive to my printer, so me ordering a new cartridge is out of the question. Nor will I order another Dell Printer just to wait for the same thing to happen. Best Buy has the HP version of this printer (Printer, Scanner, Fax) for under $100.

I have the same issue with my 962. Has anyone found a way to resolve this other than buying a new cartridge and hoping for the best?

I'll never buy a Dell printer again, and I'm not to sure about their computers either - all becuase of there TERRIBLE support.

I have had this problem for multiple cartridges and Dell does not offer any repair other than buy a neww cartridge. I got so fed up with buying new cartridges I removed the color cartridge and am printing only B&W. I just hit "cancel" when the menu screen says "right cartridge missing". Fortunately, I do not need to print much in color and have alternative remote printing if needed for large color print jobs.

Dell support is a joke!!! When my black cartridge side fails, I will be buying an HP or Canon.

I gave up on Dell and bought an Epson.  I love it.  Plus I can buy my cartridges at my local Walmart or Target store.  I won't ever buy a Dell printer again.

    Good luck to you all.
