PLEASE HELP!!! Printer Can't Communication w/Computer

It sounds like I am having the same problem as EatonD and I am completely frustrated!!  All of the sudden my printer would not work, kept getting message "Printer Cannot Communicate with Computer".  Spent over 4 hrs total to Dell Tech Sppt.  Here's what I've tried:
-uninstalled/reinstalled USB Root Hubs
-restored computer to earlier date
-bought new USB cable
-bought new printer
Still not working...  Man, I hope someone's got a clue on this one cuz it doesn't seem like Dell Spt does.  Last time i spoke with them, they said I should try replacing my motherboard...

    Which model of printer are you using, and did you purchase the same model when you bought a new one?  Thanks for the extra info!

    I have the A940 AllinOne.  New printer is newest model HP PSC 1500 allinone.

    And it's doing the same thing on the HP as it was on the A940?

    no, this time it doesn't even recognize that a printer is installed.
