Possible printer memory error or VISTA -- I need help
I've had a problem printing to my Dell Laser MFP 1815DN from my new Dell XPS M1330 laptop running 64-bit Vista Home Premium. I don't have the problem printing from any of the 6 other XP machines in the network.
When I print from the laptop, I get what appear to be memory errors on the printer. If I'm connected to the printer over Ethernet, I get this error on the printer's LCD screen:
Internal Error
Power On/Off
(The second line of the error message changes. Here are two examples of what that reads:)
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE
40a9ae44 3T 915 Rip
Ff e00fc 2T 932 Rip
If I'm connected directly to the laptop vis USB, the error changes. Now it reads:
Internal Error
Power On/Off
Psched_Main.c
2153 EM
In both cases, the printer immediately goes OFFLINE on the laptop. When I say Offline, I don't mean that I can simply go into the dropdown menu and change it back to Online -- I mean that it goes offline and I can't get it back online. I have to delete it and reinstall it.
When i first purchased the laptop, I talked at length to the support team for laptops.....they say this is a printer problem and not related. I don't know, since I also have another problem with the printer. The print spooler keeps cutting out and I can't print at all. I think that is due to a faulty HP driver -- I'm testing that now by simply disconnecting all HP printers and uninstalling them and seeing if the spooler goes out again.
Thanks.
Stephen
