Installing a CPU with an integrated GPU into my R200

I want to upgrade my R220 with a CPU that has an integrated GPU for quick sync. Once the new CPU is installed would the iGPU just show up in device manager?

I've got an update to this. Early January I ordered a E3-1276V3 which is supported by the R220 and has an integrated gpu that supports Quick Sync. It arrived yesterday and installed it today. Unfortunately the cpu's iGPU doesn't show up in device manager. Oh well. At least I have four cores eight threads at 3.6Ghz instead of 4C4T at 3.1Ghz.

    Hello UntouchedWagons,

    Thank you for choosing Dell.

PowerEdge R220 is equipped with a Matrox G200eW video accelerator chip with 8MB memory integrated in the Nuvoton WPCM450 (BMC controller) and supports 2D graphics only.

    PowerEdge R220 supports follow CPU:

-Intel Xeon E3-1200 v3 processor product family

-Intel Core i3-4130 and Core i3-4330 processor product family

-Intel Pentium processor G3430 and G3420

    -Intel Celeron processor G1820

More information about GPU support in PowerEdge servers you can also find here:

Okay but I was clearly asking about the integrated GPU that some of the E3-1200 line CPUs have.

    Hi,

the quick sync feature is supported only in the E3-12x5 family processor, and this family processor is not supported on this server, sorry.

    Thanks

    Marco

Thank you for answering my question Marco however you are slightly off, the e3-12x6 CPUs have quick sync support as well. It's strange that the R220 wouldn't support specific sub-families of e3-1200 CPUs. In any case I've got an nvidia P400 working for gpu-based video decoding so a CPU with quick sync is not essential.
