4600i Bios A09 doesn't recognize 2nd HD

I installed a second hard disk: WD 160GB on the same controller with the original hard disk. It formatted and set-up fine with the WD utilities.

But, I cannot get it out of PIO mode. When I go into the BIOS settings it says the second hard drive is "NONE" and it can't be changed. I'm suspicious this is related to why I can't set it to DMA mode in the device manager.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Ron

    Ron:

    Check the following:

    1. The drive jumper should be set to cable select.
    2. Boot to system setup and make sure the new drive is turned on.
    3. You should not use the WD utilities. You may want to delete the current partition in disk management and re-partition.

Ron, also try clearing the NVRAM using the procedure I've listed below.  By doing so the system will redetect all the installed hardware.
    • Reboot system and enter the BIOS Setup by pressing F2.
    • Turn on Caps Lock, Scroll Lock and  Num Lock.
    • Press ALT + E then ALT + F (should hear beep) then ALT + B
