RAID CAPABLE?
I am trying to find out if my Intel 82801FR SATA AHCI controller is raid capable. The sites list the driver as raid but never say if that contoller inself will handle raid. My drive crashed at 10 months old so I want to install 2 drives in a raid config so I dont have to spend another 5 days retrieving data bit by bit. BTW the program from recoversoft is the ONLY program that was able to get any data off of the drive. Took a long time but I was able to get 95% of our digital photos and videos back. thanks for any info.

Yes XPS Gen4 supports Raid.

Hi,
First we will have to configure raid by booting to RAID bios, at the Dell logo tap ctrl+I and configure RAID.

Hi,I think the RAID in not enabled in BIOS, boot to Setup by tapping F2, look for Drives press enter, under Drives look for 'Sata Operations' change it to 'RAID Autodetect/AHCI', save changes and then tap CTRL+I (i as in India). Games: Oblivion, HL2, FEAR, Far Cry - OK Thanks for all the help. the last document explained it all. I had to turn RAID on, setting it to autodetect/AHCI didn't work. Now the only problem I have is when I tell it to load the RAID driver from the floppy it crashes when installing windows. Guess I need to find a newer driver somewhere?
RAID Intel driver comes loaded with any Gen 4 machine, I think because I knew mine did so you do not need floppy disk/drive to run or load its driver. If you follow the link above, download and print out a hard copy, then follow the exact instructions in the manual it should work as I knew it did for me. Good luck!
