Change OS
I have an old Dell CPT Lattitude,that I would like to change the OS from Windows 2000 to Windows XP. I am not having any luck install XP. I get the error message that an OS is already instaalled and I should use a dual boot system,which I do not want to do. I want to ger rid of 2000 and install XP. I need to know what to do to accomplish this goal thanks for your help.

When you want to perform a 'clean' install, you need to boot from the OS disc (in this case the XP disc), (quick-) format the hard drive, then install the new OS :emotion-55:
If you've never done it before yourself, there are any number of articles/guides you can refer to.
Dell themselves have a guide: 'How to reinstall your OS'.

Official Microsoft How to install or upgrade to Windows XPI'd advise downloading all the drivers you need, and XP SP3 - before you start though.
Copy them to a CD/DVD, pendrive, or an external hard drive, such that they're handy once you've finished installing the OS :emotion-5:

Hi, lriecks1, There are two support journals that will help you to install XP on your system HERE, and HERE for your drivers, and in their correct order. I used CPT V as an reference, i hope its ok for you.
