Chipset driver version...??

Sorry about the double post....big fingers...

Again, my question: Where would I find my chipset version listed. I've looked at System Info but nothing listed. The closest thing I could find was a R58201 reference in the C:\Dell\Drivers folder but no verbiage - at least that I was able to find - with the version number.

Open up Device manager and expand the 'System Devices' tab.  Look for an entry called 'Intel SMBus Controller'.  Right click it and select properties.  Now click the 'Driver' tab.  There will be a listing for driver version which will tell you what version in currently installed.

Since you have access to the net, I'd just use the downloaded version and be sure you have the most updated driver.

    alevasseur 14....

Thanks for the info. Just wish Dell's chipset file download info for my 8300 stated the version so I could tell for sure. The only version info stated is for the chipset install utility (V.5.00.1012, A13) for the 2 MB executable (R58201.exe) file name. The reason for my question is I'm comtemplating a fresh XP reinstall and if I knew the chipset file version I could tell if the one on my Reinstallation/Drivers CD is the same as Dell currently lists, or older.
