Hi,

 

I bought my computer from Dell last year. It already had Windows XP installed when I got it. Everything has been fine up until now.

 

When I log on I get a message "this is not genuine Windows Software. You may have been a victim of software counterfeit".

 

Now, I couldn't see why this would suddenly appear on my screen, so I googled and came up with this article -

The pieces seem to fit together, so I can only assume I have been dudded. I will be ringing Dell first thing tomorrow about this, but in the meantime I wondered if anyone else has had the same thing happen and whether the issue has been resolved or there has in fact been an explanation as to why/how this may have happened?
