How do I remove impropery removed software

Hi,

I am trying to transfer files with PC mover, but about 90% of the way it crashes. I figure this is because there is one program that appears in add/remove programs that is not really there.  When I try to uninstall with add/remove program tool, it gives me an error message. When I place the CD in, it only allows me to uninstall, but when I select that, I get the same message. Please help.  I think this happened because I used system restore to mvoe it to a point before I uninstalled it.  Thanks in advance.

I was able to solve this by manually deleting the programs from start/run.  However, PC Mover still does not work, even though this program no longer shows in uninstall.  What  a pain in the .   Best part is, Laplink is only open M-F.  Anger I feel is almost overpowering

Reinstall the program then reboot.  Now use either the Uninstall menu item from the program itself or use Add/Remove Programs.

If you're trying to move Programs, I'd advise against it.

Run a registry cleaner. There is clearly something left in the registry that is telling the machine that the program is still there.

I don't agree with this recommendation.  Registry cleaners cause more damage than good, and an error message at shutdown is causing no issues.

My experience with TweakNow RegCleaner has always been favourable and without incident. I run it once a month or thereabouts. After an initial clear out of dross, it now picks up 3 or 4 orphans a time.

Try the latest version of ccleaner.

Here is the suggested registry guide that I made. If you have IE7 uncheck the hotfix thing.

Look under links or suggested scanners.
