Since a very high proportion of the problems occurring these days with Internet Explorer are due to spyware and other internet parasites, the first thing I suggest is getting rid of all of the spyware.  See the message at the top of the forum:

If getting rid of the garbage doesn't fix the problem, post back and we can go from there.

Thanks for the tip, but I have already downloaded a copy of No Adware to ensure that spyware was removed.

The problem continues.

A single program does not remove all of the garbage.  Read the message I linked you to and follow all of the steps.  I've never heard of a program called No Adware.

Hi again Steve,

Took your advice and downloaded both Ad-aware 6 and spybot s & d.

Ran them along with No-Adware which I downloaded earlier from a web search, Pc Doctor on call 2 and AVG 6 (to ensure no viruses) and cleared according to the recommendations, re-booted and ran them again to make sure - no problems recorded.

Never felt so cleansed!

Launched my browser to come back here and let you know and.......presto, same error message from Internet Explorer - throwing me out and back to my launch browser page!

Despite having reloaded the operating software (Win 98 SE), I believe the problem maybe in my registry files ........somehow.

It only seems to happen when I use the mouse (i.e I can leave a web site up for ages with no problems, but come to move the mouse and use it - Bingo)

Maybe a case of going thro the old desparate DOS process of 'Format c:' and reloading everything.

Did you try the HijackThis program and then posting to one of the HijackThis forums for some expert help?

Not yet, I was a little cautious about that one!

I'll give it a go first though 'cos Format c: takes hours to reload.
