Dimension 8200, with BIOS A09. WIN XP with NO SP2.
Whenever auto update tries to install this hotfix (KB891711), the progress bar stalls. Auto update downloaded it again and it stalled the second time, too. The second time I let it go Thursday night, left the PC on and it was still "stalled" Sat morning. The PC does not lock up and I can get online and use any application. Task manager says its running - not "unresponding".
I've run SpyBot, Adaware, a full Norton's anti-virus scan, deleted old files, defrag....
I've tried the Microsoft web site but didn't ahve any luck finding an answer.
1) What does this fix do / What does it affect?
2) Is this fix included in SP2? SP2 does the same thing to me. I'm wondering if it gets hung up at the same point?
