modem driver update
Modem =Conexant HCF v.90 56K Data fax PCI modem
I have upgraded to windows XP and my modem has been giving me problems since. I am experiencing frequent disconnections and freeze ups.
I have changed ISPs three times Juno, ATT, and AOL and still am experiencing disconnections up to 6 times within an hour.
I worked closely with aol to solve this but not even a four page solution sheet they e-mailed me helped.
I have 384mb, 80 gb hard drive so it is not a matter of memory. I have searched for modem drivers but can decide which to installed. I downloaded something from dell but am afraid to use it.
Have gone to conexant website and driverguide as well.
I just want to update driver to work with XP properly.
I appreciate any help I can get. My next desperate step would be to pay the exhorbitant price of cable. uhm!

A modem driver update will more than likely solve your prob. Get it from your modem Manufacturer.
Also, just an offshoot, when a new install of XP is performed, I'm quite sure XP sets the tranfer rate to fastest in your modem properties. If you haven't already done so, lower it to 56000, this can cause your disconnection problems as well.
