I just bought an XPS M1730 from Dell (4 days ago). When I did shut i down the first time that evening it refused to shut down, i froze on the "Shutting down" screen and I had to manually shut it down after about 1 hour.

 

I did try a couple of times to restart and shut down but it froze every time.

I did uninstall all programs I had myself installd after receiving the computer but it still did´nt work...

 

Since I´m no fan of all the "extras" Dell installs I thought I should format the harddrive and install a fresh copy of Vista from the disk I received from Dell.

But when I did this everything went well until the end of the installment, at about 2/3 when windows says it "Finishing installing" the computer frezes again....

I have done this 3 times now and it always frezes at the same spot, last night I kept the computer on for about 7 hours just to check.

And since I have formatted the harddrive I cant go back and try fixing the problem.

 

I really would appreciate a solution to this, my brand new 5000 dollar computer worked for about 4 hours and my spirits are a little bit low at the moment....
