WINDOWS UPDATE

i cant download the windows update, i send my computer to a friend because i had problems with it. and i think he insalled another windows xp, not mine. so when i try to download the win updates i cant, what can i do?

    Sounds like he gave you an illegal copy of XP.  I'm not too sure if there's any way to fix this than to reformat the computer and reinstall Windows using your copy.

    In the latest version of "Windows Update" (version 5 I believe), it supposedly detects
    bogus registration keys, or duplicate keys, and won't instal any SP2 updates.

    Actually, even if you have a bogus reg key, you can still d/l SP2.  This is Microsoft's way of "reaching out" to everyone to try to make their OS better.  You still will not be able to d/l any of the other updates though.
