Hi. I am trying to help my brother upgrade his graphics card. He has an Aurora R8 that came with a 2080. I think that means it has the 850w PSU. I know a modest amount about computers, but I'm unsure how to check which gpus this case is compatible with. He needs to get a new gpu because his 2080 is defective and that wasn't discovered until after the warranty was expired. We understand the market is crazy right now and that it will be hard to actually get one.
I know it has the gpu brace to prevent sag, and I'm not sure if there are other factors I need to consider when helping him find a new gpu. The cpu is an I7-8700 65W. How can I find out which 3000 series cards will fit? I guess I'm assuming his 850w psu will be enough to power a 3000 series card? But if he needs to upgrade that too I will let him know.
I actually did find that thread already, I forgot it mentioned how to check the psu though lol. So that thread basically says to get an EVGA RTX 3070/3080 XC3, right? (Well it links to 2 2080s too but then someone said one of those might not fit). I was a little confused when I first read the thread, as I had ventured to the link in the last post that led to a thread talking about removing drive bays and cutting corners lol but now that I have reread those I see I was mixing up some of the info.
With the XC3 I will just need to replace a fan, as outlined in this thread if I'm not mistaken?
