17 R1, worth upgrading?

Is it worth upgrading this laptop instead of getting a new one?

Current Specs:

*17 inch 1600x900    |   i7-4710MQ   |   8GB Ram   |   R9 M290X(HD 8970M)   |   80GB SSD / 1TB 5400 HDD   |   240W PSU

For now my main concern is the graphic card and screen... lucky for me my friend has a graphic card, an RX 480 4GB(MXM) and 8GB(4GBx2) of ram that hes willing to sell for $150 cheap for a nice performance boost, then would be the screen....  I have no idea which one is compatible...

Hi @O_M3G_A  not sure why this question has been posted. Laptops are not designed with the prospect of major changes and when working should not be messed with. Therefore, if this laptop continues to meet all your daily requirements, leave it alone.
