Hi all! I have an Alienware Area-51m R2 laptop it the following specs =
System Model: Alienware Area-51m R2 Processor: Intel Core i7-10700K CPU @ 3.80GHz, 3792 Mhz, 8 Core(s), 16 Logical Processor(s) Installed Memory (RAM) 32.0 GB Display Adapter: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super (8GB), Nvidia Studio Driver 471.68 Display: 1920x1080 144 hertz Storage (8TB Total): OS Drive: PM981a NVMe SAMSUNG 2048GB Data Drive1: Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 2TB Data Drive2: Samsung SSD 860 EVO 4TB
I'm seeing some strangeness in the button and icon behave when using Magix Vegas Pro 18 Video editing software. The problem is illustrated in the video below. I've tried using old Nvidia Drivers and even disabling the Nvidia driver and using the Intel display adapter. Yet the problem persists.
I've also posted to the Vegas Pro forums - no help there.
Can anyone help in the resolution of this problem?
Fixed! The fix was in a Vegas 18 setting (preference). There is a (new to Vegas 18) setting named "Use Alternate HighDPI Settings". It is intended to fix comparability problems if the user has multiple monitors with different DPI settings.
Once I unchecked that option the problem disappeared.
Hi @alal19808 welcome to this user to user discussion forum. This is not Dell Support.
Thank you for video that clearly shows problem. This graphics intensive application is struggling to work on your system. Hopefully all other applications are closed when using Magix Vegas Pro 18 Video editing software. There is difficulty in managing many temporary graphic files. Please increase physical RAM to fast 64GB and perhaps get Windows 10 to use virtual RAM. (I would normally recommend using the small M.2 2230 slot, and installing ultrafast NVMe card as your dedicated virtual RAM, but Area-51m R2 does not have a third motherboard M.2 2230 slot.)
Support for Alienware Area-51m R2, Memory is for Dell Warranty configuration. Other OEM databases say 64GB RAM has been tested and works. Search internet for claims that specific OEM 128GB RAM works.

Thanks for the quick response. I tried rebooting and launching Vegas without my normal procedure of having Lightroom, Photoshop and other apps running at the same time. Alas... the problem remains.
I went to Task Manager and see that Vegas seems to be using only a small portion of the 32GB of installed RAM. My next test is to install Vegas Pro on an older/slower/16GB (Lenovo) laptop and see if I have the problem there. (that may take a bit of time).
Comparing Vegas performance on two different laptops was a good decision. It seems that the Alienware Area-51m R2 laptop's OS(C:) boot drive has a file problem. Please run Check Disk to look for and automatically fix any file problems on the OS(C:) boot drive.

Okay, haven't done a Chkdsk in a while so that's a good thing to do. The only thing it found was a "Correcting errors in the Volume Bitmap" when checking free space - which was corrected. While I was at it, I ran a sfc /scannow which was also uneventful.
Something completely dumb to ask is have you tried moving the file from your Lenovo that has Vegas 18 to the Alienware to see if that works via usb?

Quick Tip: If your laptop has voltage / charging issues, try shutting it down, unplugging power from laptop, hold power button down for 30 seconds to do a full reset!

I always like to hear "completely dumb" suggestions as I don't know how many times I've overlooked something equally "dumb". However, in this case, the file (i.e. Vegas project) cannot be the problem as the problem is with the display of the user interface and occurs with no files (projects) open.
Oh makes sense but for further clarification because my brain kinda doesn’t understand stuff very well sometimes but I mean completely uninstalling Vegas 18 from the Alienware and using the Lenovo application Vegas 18 to be moved to the area 51m.

I have completely uninstalled and re-installed the app on my Alienware without success.
I'm not sure I understand how to move a Windows application from one computer to another as the installation on the 1st computer includes references to the first computer's hardware, registry entries and various configuration files. I have no idea how to trace down all the details.
