Dell Shipping to FedEx

I’ve gotten an email on Jul. 7 saying my laptop has shipped to FedEx in Chicago but when I went to track the number on FedEx it says the shipper has prepared the package but has not yet given it to FedEx. How long does it take for the package to arrive at FedEx? It’s been almost 4 days

The answer depends on what was ordered.  If it was a notebook computer, it depends on how long it takes to get the system to the US from China.  If it was a desktop system, most ship from Mexico;  same deal:  depends on how long it takes to travel from Mexico to the US.

Given the current lack of capacity in cargo shipments, it may be more than a few days.

The expected date did say by July 22 so I don’t expect it to come very fast. I’m just hoping my package doesn’t get delayed. Is this pretty normal for packages that are expected to arrive in two weeks? Considering I made my order on the 5th of July?

Under ordinary circumstances, just a couple of days.  In the current COVID-19 state of the world's shipping woes, maybe a week -- or more.  There's just not enough capacity on cargo flights to handle everything (before the pandemic, many passenger flights also carried cargo;  now that air travel is only a fraction of what it was, that space is no longer available).

Just about everything I've ordered from every vendor - amazon, newegg, LL Bean, etc. has taken a day or more longer than it would to arrive -- and that's just intra-US shipping.

Unless you're ordering priority medical supplies these days, expect delays;  they're more the norm than the exception these days.

Recent purchase from Dell send by FedEx went well until arriving at my local distribution center.  The item was placed on the next truck out that morning for delivery but it was never delivered.  Later that evening I got a notice that it could not be delivered (it was a Friday).

FedEx says they attempted to deliver again on Sunday but this time the notice at the end of the day was that they could not find the address.

FedEx has been delivering to this address for over 10 years.

The last notice said I was to call FedEx to give them a working address.  When I called FedEx I was told I needed to contact the shipper and give them the appropriate address.

THere is nothing wrong with this address.  UPS, USPS, and Amazon have no problem finding it:  the address is on Google Maps!

This has been a problem since the first of 2020.  FedEx puts the item on the wrong truck, a truck that doesn't come to my county.  On my Delivery Manager I have placed phone #, gate code and a note that the delivery is to my county, not the county the distribution center is in.

This happens about one out of three FedEx deliveries and they still can't seem to get it right.

Any possibility Dell could dump FedEx for UPS?

    H.
