I received a call on Monday, May 28, from a guy (sounded Indian) claiming to be from Dell Support saying that they have seen error messages from my laptop and want to investigate. He got me to check the event viewer and told me the errors I am seeing there are due to a trojan. To fix the issue he asked me to download an "exe" from a website "www.support72.com".

I told him I am not comfortable doing that and said I will directly call Dell Support as it's not clear to me if he really is from Dell Support. He tried to hang on by telling me he will give me his employee id, manager's id etc., but on sensing I am unlikely to relent hung up abruptly.

I am not sure who else is receiving these calls and so thought of reporting it here. Additionally, I am not clear how they got hold of my contact info. I recently sent my laptop in for some repair work, could that have compromised my details?
