Returning Replacement and Getting a Full Refund

Hello Dell Costumer Care,

Yesterday I was on a call with a Dell Support Technician and they told me to contact Costumer Care regarding my ability to obtain a refund. About a month ago I ordered the new XPS 15 but it was experiencing issues so I asked for a replacement and yesterday I received it. However, upon using my replacement I noticed it is also experiencing issues, and at this point I would like to return everything and get a full refund for this awful experience.

    Hi,

I am having the same problem. I was shipped out a defective computer and the replacement took almost 2 months to arrive. Now that I’ve gotten my replacement a few days ago I want to initiate a full refund. This new computer is either defective or it’s a bad design. I don’t know which one it is, but I don’t care at this point. Because, I definitely don’t want this anymore.

I called Customer Care and they are all just giving me the “run around.” It’s been almost 2 hours of phone calls and I’m at my wits end.

That's not an option at this point -- you essentially choose a refund or replacement when first making the request.  The refund applies only for the first 30 days from shipment (it is not renewed with the replacement system).

If there's a defect with the system, call Dell and arrange warranty service.  It sounds more like buyer's remorse, which is not warranted against; if that's the case, sell the system and purchase one more suitable to your needs.

You need to call Dell support for repair.  Systems can run hot for many reasons - not necessarily related to a design defect.  And with the current crop of Intel CPUs being rated to 100 C under normal operation, "hot" is relative.

The reason they're not answering you is that you're asking for something that you're not entitled to.  If you feel the system is defective, call support (run a full diagnostic first - F12 at powerup).  If an error arises, record it by number with its validation code.

If not, there's little they will be able to do.  If you insist on a refund, they'll simply wait out your warranty, so the ball is in your court at the moment.

    Hi,

If you work for Dell I appreciate your comment. Otherwise please don’t lead people astray. I never received a product that worked. The first one was Dead On Arrival, and the second one is overheating pretty severely. Sometimes even to the point where the machine shuts off. I don’t know if it’s defective or a bad design. I’m going to assume the former.

Regardless, think about what you’re saying. If it made any sense at all, then Dell could in theory send non-operational units to all their customers and then take their sweet time sending out a replacement to the point where the customer is forced to keep it no matter even if it takes 6 months to get their new one.

Hello, OP here. I was sadly unable to do anything as I was only offered replacements, and I took them up 3 times. However, they all had the same issue(s), and I decided to keep the final laptop and move on with life. From this purchase I only learned to never buy from Dell again, and I think you'll face the same fate, as refunds after 30 days are extremely unlikely...

    Cheers

The rep was bargaining with me trying to get me to not return the product. They were offering me extra Dell Credit if I kept the computer. I told them no I don’t want it, and then he pretends the line gets disconnected (they do this often).

I don’t know what information you’re speaking on. Because I also stated the computer is overheating to the point where it is shutting off. No amount of Intel technology would warrant that. If you still don’t think I’m legally entitled to a refund, then please wait for a Dell Rep to respond.

Besides, take a look at the original post to this thread. Someone with the exact same issue did receive a reply from the Dell rep. They did not confirm what you’re trying to say. If so, the rep would have just outright said that.
