We are in the process of integrating an FS7600 appliance into our existing SAN. The NAS appliance will be joining two PS6100 arrays to provide file services for our users. The appliance did have one failed node out of the box, so Dell support worked through that issue with us and replaced the faulty node. I am adding this information because it's relevant - per Dell Pro support, the switches and the appliance itself are fully up to date and configured correctly.
However, I now have a discovery issue that I cannot seem to resolve. Specifically, I started the discovery process knowing that I needed to add a route between our main subnet and the SAN subnet - there was no gateway that was reachable at the time NAS discovery was initiated.
I am now in the portion of discovery that attempts to contact said gateway, and of course it is failing. The problem is that I cannot stop the discovery process; I cannot remove the FS7600 from the EQL group, and I cannot change the network configuration on the appliance because discovery is in progress. I'm hoping to avoid a complete reset of the FS7600 and the two 6100 JBODs.
How can I cancel discovery and restart the process without deep-sixing the entire configuration and starting from scratch?
Hi Tony, I ended up contacting Dell Support and was advised to perform the following command from the group CLI:
Group> nas-cluster delete CLUSTERNAME
CLUSTERNAME is what you chose for the name of the cluster. It takes about 10 minutes to revert the nodes to standby, but it does cancel the discovery without a complete reset.
