Inspiron 5590 lid hinge issue
I had purchased the laptop in Dec 2019.
Ever since then, I have heard the hinge making a slight cracking sound. But I never paid much attention to it. However, recently I noticed that the hinge has broken apart.
I contacted Dell support over WhatsApp and they have very comfortably washed off any responsibility towards this. They reviewed the pics I sent and commented that ‘the system does not have a complete cover warranty. Unfortunately, we are unable to help you with the issue.’
I have noticed many similar complaints in the community. Please provide a solution.

Mine did the same last week Oct 2020.
I managed to fix mine without taking the lap appart.
A bit of a bodge solution involving drilling 2 holes in the aluminium lid and a bit of bent wire to act as a staple to replace the broken black plastic threads were the 2 large head screws where.

I think this DELL 5590 is a poor case design and the silver back lit keyboard is BAD in low light conditions.

I agree. I too have the same problem now with the lid. Running around to fix the same. didn't expect to break so fast. Just 1+ years old.

I purchased 5 Vostro 5590's in December of 2019. 3 of them have failed in the exact same manner, with the hinge mounts failing. It's obviously a design flaw, and customers should be compensated. I've purchased hundreds of Dell latops in my lifetime and I've never seen a model fail so consistently.

I also faced same problem. I paid 5818 rupees for it's repair. I am very unhappy with this model.

I am also facing the same issue , my Inspiron 5590 lid hinge (left side) broken. After paying a premium amount to Dell we are seeing this issue mostly. It's definitely a manufacturing defect . Dell has to take care of this issue.

Hi, I am facing the same issue! Both the hinges have loosened now and the front DELL screen plastic is broken and coming out. I saw online that the display or the laptop screen is available, and I am doubtful if I have to get the entire screen with the hinge (monitor) replace altogether. I also notice the similar scrubbing of black dirt on the rubber of the hinge. I have the same. Ugh, I like the laptop, just need a sustainable solution for this!
