I have an Inspiron 15 laptop of which I want to reset to factory specs. When I turn it on, the Dell logo appears and disappears, then this box appears asking for the system or administrator password. I have not used the laptop in a while, and I remember changing the password but the password I put in is incorrect. I have system recovery disks and a repair disk but I do not have a password reset disk. I do not know if I even made one. Is there any way I can recover the password?
When I turn on the laptop, the Dell logo appears then disappears. Then there is a blue box in the middle of the screen, above the box "Service Tag: XXXXXX:", in the the box "Enter System Password", there is a area to type in, underneath the box "Please type in the system or administrator password and press ." I have never seen this before.
Usually, after turning on the laptop, the Dell logo appears and disappears, then the Windows login screen appears, where the Windows user ID is shown and the area for entering the password. I don't believe the system or administrator password is the same as the Windows password.
I tried hitting F12 for access Boot Options but nothing happens.
Thank you for your message. Looks like this is for a system password.
For my reference, please click on the message tab next to your avatar– click “New Message” & search for my Dell username (Dell-Sreejith R) & send a private message with
the service tag, registered name & email address. Once the account is verified, I will share the master password.
I have an Inspiron N 5010 laptop and I reset the BIOS to the factory settings. When I turn it on, the Dell logo appears and disappears, then the blue box appears asking for the system or administrator password. I didn't set any password.
