SMB Default folder and share setup
Hi,
I am very new to the Isilon, but not EMC(Celerra/ClariionDD). Had no kind of training and looking forward probably won't unless i pay myself.
I have a question that i can't believe someone has not come across. We are just a CIFS/SMB house that have no need for NFS.
What is the procedure to create a base folder and share that have the rights so that i can connect via Windows to transfer data that will allow me to totally manage the directory structure via Windows ACL's?
I have done quite a few tests that look as if the Unix end is giving more rights to windows users than wanted, and are masking Windows. I have put a call in for help with EMC, but after a couple of they are still researching.
One FS is the latest: 7.0.1.5
7 Nodes in a cluster
Added to an Active Directory Domain.
Thanks in advance
Andrew

Went through this myself
1) Through the Isilon GUI, go to SMB shares.
2) Locate the IFS$ share.
3) Give your Windows account root level permission (just for right now, you will remove it later).
4) Go to \\Isilon name\ifs$ from Windows
5) Create folder underneath. Let's call it Folder1
6) Modify NTFS permissions.
7) Go back to Isilon GUI and create an SMB share.
Now access via \\Isilon name\SMB share name.
I don't check this forum often, so I may not get to your follow up questions in time. My email is in my profile if needed.
Thank You.
