E6420 processor change heat issue
I know this is an ancient laptop but it’s been my old friend for a while. I recently changed my processor from i5 to i7 and now it’s overheating. Did the i7 version of this laptop use a different cooler? I’m running windows 11. (I’m aware it’s not supported but there are ways around it as we all know).

Do you have integrated Intel graphics or discrete NVidia GPU, as there was a different fan and heat sink assemblies for each? This page at Parts-People shows both fan and cooling assemblies.
Also have a look at this YouTube video as it may help.
