I have a problem with brightness... I have a brand new dell xps 13 (L321X). I installed ubuntu 12.10. Did all the upgrade and then added the sputnik ppa. Now my kernel is: (uname -a) Linux 3.5.0-19-generic #30+kamal11~DellXPS-Ubuntu SMP and my bios is: (dmidecode -s bios-version) A06 I followed various solutions found in http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1932965&page=21 but none is functioning... Does someone has found a workaround to this issue?
I'm running into much the same problem. I bought a brand new dell xps 13 a couple months ago. However, I first installed with the sputnik ppa, and *then* upgraded to 12.10 (not sure in retrospect if that was a bad idea. Was I somehow overwrote the sputnik ppa.
Not sure what stats I should be providing here to help identify my system, so I'll just copy ales004:
$ uname -a
Linux link 3.5.0-19-generic #30-Ubuntu SMP Tue Nov 13 17:48:01 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
$ dmidecode -s bios-version
A04
There seem to be several proposed solutions proposed, and it's hard to choose between them. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as this brightness issue is really straining my eyes.
