1366 Processor Swap

If I was to buy an Area 51 with the 960, can I swap out the 960 for a 990X--both are 1366 setups.  If I can, what potential problems would need to be addressed

just make sure you have the bios updated. you can just drop it in. no problemo. But I suggest waiting for the new chips. They are right around the corner.

The BIOS is on the motherboard. Just make sure you have the latest installed before you switch the chips.

Thank you.  Which bios?  The 980X has the A10 bios so would it be the same?

A10 is still the latest.  As long as you're already on A10, just drop the new chip in and you're good to go.

I do have an Aurora right now--thinking about getting the Area 51 with the 960 in it and upgrading the processor to a 990X
