In the FAQ
M17x-R2 may not resume after an S3 suspend
AC adapter not recognized or recognized but not charging in Windows
* Turn off the PC
* Unplug the AC adapter and remove the battery
* Hold the power button for 30 seconds
* Reinsert the battery and plug in the AC adapter
* Restart the PC and press F2 to enter the BIOS. The watts are listed at 193
* Disconnect/reconnect the AC adapter. The watts will now be listed at 240
Is there any progress on a real fix. These work arounds have to be performed way to often.

If you are constantly doing it, are you certain this is the issue? You could have a faulty battery, faulty AC adaptor or a fault AC jack on the board? If its under warranty, get Dell to take a look at these things.
