i would say its 1 of 2 things

1 it might be driver relateed try reinstalling your video drivers or switch to a different one

2 try lowering your resolution. you have it maxed (why have it like that in normal mode ...higher reses are mainly used for games???)

Wrong circeseye.... LCD's run best at their native resolutions, and using anything else will give you a less than optimal viewing experience.  CRT monitors are different and can handle different resolutions without problems.  It might be the driver, so uninstall that one, download and install a newer version from the video card web site and try it again.

Thanks all....I new about the best native resolution....although it's not my favorite, I have to use it because I edit and design DVDs (so I need the full screen, but not the stretched images), and I tried to update the driver, but there wasn't a newer one, so I'll try uninstalling/reinstalling like you said.

Unfortunately, programs, and games have to be written for the wider monitors or they have to either be stretched or have borders on all sides.  Price we pay for wide monitors out today, while the software lags behind.  Video cards and drivers help with some viewing experience, but the software is the key to having some of the programs to work with the wide monitors

THATS the native resolution i should be running???? i have the same screen and im sorry but that resolution is hard on the 6800. which is why ive upgraded to a more powerful one.but even still i wouldnt run it that high THERE IS NO NEED unless your gaming. 1024 x 768 is perfect for normal running there is no "streching" as you call it. you say you need the higher res for "movies" sorry but i dont see it. by using that res i think the screen looks ugly as h--- in normal 2d mode
