avertv usb 2.0 not connecting

I purchased an aver tv usb 2.0 external box with my dimension 8300. However, I have been unable to get it to function. I have xp pro with sp1 and have the appropriate drivers and usb host controller installed. the only message I get when I try to run the program is an "error 001 message to connect the usb 2.0 device to the usb port."

I have installed and uninstalled the device numerous times. I have checked the drivers with no results any advice?

Since this has never worked, have you considered the unit may be defective?  Or have a defective USB cable?  Have you tried different USB ports on your PC?  Do you have other USB devices and do they work?

Have you considered trying it on a friends PC to see if it will work there?

Finally, have you contacted the device's vendor?

I purchased the unit with my dell dimension 8300 but dell support tell me that it is the responsibility of avertv the manufacturers. Avertv support has not answered my recent emails and has previously just asked me to ensure my drivers are up to date.

I have no other method of checking the device out and believe that it may be faulty

however both companies seem to be unwilling to accept responsibility

I eventually rang the support site in England and explained all I had done. They agreed that the device was faulty and sent me another which installed perfectly within seconds

    Best luck

Yes i do and i installed the drivers i've found on there downloaddirectory but
    did not solve the problem.
Again i uninstalled the application and the drivers and run the patch without succes.
If the avertv application is running and when another program is running that uses the soundcard winamp or mediaplayer than the sound dislocate until the avertv application is stopped.
Avermedia is not very helpfull by solving this problem.Hopely one of you can help to solve these issue.
I don't understand the problem, when the "avertv usb 2.0 plus" is just installed the sound is ok
by restarting the pc the sound is disappeared.Isn't it posseble that the register or some dll's is overwritten by restarting the CPU?Is there a way to check that out?
