I am experiencing a problem with the speed of my computer. 

Example:  I am playing a game of windows Spider Solitaire.  When I am required to deal out another layer of cards, the time between each card is as much as 3/4 of a second!! (where as it is normally too fast to even count.)  But then, oddly enough, it suddenly speeds up for a little while but then slows down again.

I also notice that my music and games are choppy, as though the computer doesn't have enough memory.

I have tried closing every single thing possible in the [ctrl]+[alt]+[del] menu and this does not help.

I recently purchased a program from Mcafee called PC booster, hoping that this program could rescue me from my plight, but it doesn't seem to help.  One thing that was helpful about the program is that it allowed me to check how much RAM was free during a time when the computer acted very slowly, and I found that it was down to 2%!!

I could really use some help with this problem, as it is making me think that I should use my old 486 instead  .  But seriously, If anyone could help me with this, I would REALLY appreciate it.
