Yes, I did check the recycle bin. I have a Dimension 8200 series, Windows XP. This is my first attempt at the Forum, so please understand if I don't give you all the info you need. Thanks. They say when you delete something that it is still on your computer somewhere. I even went back and restored my system to before I deleted the pictures but that didn't do any good.

When I delete pics from My Pictures they always go to the Recycle Bin; that's why I asked. If you don't see them in the Recycle Bin I'm afraid they are gone.

Depending on valuable those pics are: you can recover just about anything from any drive - even if it has been formated... there are a variety of software packages on the web that are able to do this... some of them let you see the files as a trial, to see if they are infact recoverable. Then you may have to pay a price for the program to actually recover the files.
I did this to recover 10 GB from a deleted partition on an external drive - I got everyone of them back!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Joan,
I can only vouch for the company ONTRACK, which I used. It is not the cheapest nor is probably the best - but it did the job for me in a crisis situation!

What I had originally done was to search the web and then read about a few of the companies and figured that this one had what I needed in a manner that I could follow. Some companies were to geeky for me...
Give it a shot! Now, most companies offer a free trial that you can use to "See" the lost files. If you can see them then you can pay for the license to recover them - it's a decent way to run a business.
Let me know if you have more questions - or if it works let me know that too!!!!!!
Have FUN!!!

I guess you've checked the Recycle Bin already?
