Hi, I've recently purchased a Dimension 4700 from Dell, the specs are as
follows:

 

Intel P4 3.0ghz
512 DDR-Meg Ram
80 gig HD

 

I bought it without a graphics card as I wanted to buy my own, an XFX
Geforce 6600GT 128MB PCI-Express card. Now I've bought two of these cards
and both of them have had the same problems.
The first one I bought just stopped working after about 2 minutes play on
FarCry. It worked fine while just using the PC and not playing games, but
when I tried it on FarCry, the PC just shutoff. It would then NOT turn back
on with the Geforce card inside the PC, only without it (using the onboard
graphics card). So I had a replacement sent, and this one worked for a good
day and a half, including a good long session playing on Doom 3 with
everything on high graphics. But soon enough, the same thing happened. I am
at a loss at what to do, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
I've been informed that all Dell machines use a 305 watt power supply, and
this card requires a 300 watt so I don't think thats the problem. When I did
take the card out though, it was very warm!
Any other questions regarding the system, please just ask as I am not too
tech when it comes to PCs
