double e-mail

Sometimes my e-mail comes in sets of two. Is there any way to set it so this doesn't happen? It's a pain to have to wait 1/2 hour for a picture to come in twice... Palimino

    Hi,

Ordinarily this happens only when the mail has been inadvertantly sent twice; there is no control within your mail program to stop the second download that I know of, however.

I guess the other thing that could be happening is server software error with your ISP's POP3 server.

One thing you might verify is that your mail is removed from the ISP's server as soon as you download it, just in case that might be interfering. This entry is reached by opening OE, going to Tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties | Advanced, and looking for Delivery. Be sure there is no check by Leave a copy of the message on the server.

    Good luck,
    Kay

    Hi,

DellTalk duplicates are errors on DellTalk's part--the software for e-mail notification is a work in progress, OK? It isn't at all unusual to be notified twice--or not at all, I'm afraid. I can't speak to the issue of mail from Homestead, but perhaps it's somewhat the same thing.

    Later,

I checked like you said and there was no mark on the leave a copy of message on the server. Not all mail is sent double, but Delltalk comes in twice, and a few of the homeschool references do too. But this is only a minor annoyance and I can live with it. Thank you.

Thank you. Now at least I know it's not something I've done to my computer.

Contact those sites and let them know you are getting dupes. I found this to happen from sites that I forgot a password and had to go through their sign-up again or where I had to uninstalll their software and reinstall it again. MP3.com and atomworks are a couple.....
