i have a dimension 4100 that i bought in aug 2000 that now runs xp pro. i have just installed an adaptec 4300C firewire pci card, which is installed correctly and has been used to capture dv. i also have purchased an owc mercury elite pro 800 firewire/usb external harddrive combo.
when i plug the hd into my usb port, i get the error message stating that i am plugging in a high-speed device into a low-speed port. then i tried to plug the hd into the firewire port that i just installed and nothing comes up. i have read the manufacturers handbook and it says that for windows xp, no drivers need be installed.
i have used the harddrive before on a number of macs running osx, and have 55GB of the 80GB total used. any support would be greatly appreciated.
