Which is the fastest CPU I can purchase for my old and aging Dell Dimesion 4600?

    The D-4600 support's Socket 478, P4 533/800 MHz FSB processors.

The early 4600 models will take up to 3.0GHz and the later models, to 3.2GHz or 3.4GHz, that does not offer much of a boost over the 3.0GHz

Would you happen to know a reliable website where I can purchase Socket 478 P4 533/800MHz FSB processors?

Hopefully you do not mind me piggy-backing on your earlier emails but they were on-target for what I am trying to do.  I have a 4600i 533MHz that has a 2.8GHz processor with PC3200 memory.   I want to upgrade to a Hyper Threaded processor for video editing.  The System Specs list a 3.06GHz processor for this 533MHz system.  The 3.06 is a HT processor.  I have the latest A12 Bios which should give me the HT selection if the processor is installed.  However, I looked at the Intel 865G Chipset - familyID=23363.pdf document and it does not list this as a Valid Processor Combination.  Does anyone have this setup and does it run in HT?

I should have remembered that adding to a old, probably closed post does not get noticed.  I am going to rename this "Update 4600 CPU" and start a new post.
