help me!!!!
Yesterday I installed the computer game Quake III: Arena and it asked me to reboot my computer in order to complete the installation
So I did and all of the sudden all of my icons on my desktop are gone, the only ones left are:My Computer, My Documents, Internet Explorer, Recycle Bin, DellNet by MSN, and My Network Places. Everything else is gone, my wallpaper, screensaver, all my other icons!!!
When i click on my documents it responds:
The My Documents folder could not be found. Right-click document icon, click properties, and then check that the path to your target folder is correct.
And when i click on everything else (excluding Recycle Bin) says: Your current security settings prohibit running activeX controls on this page. As a result the page may not display correctly.
And my start button doesnt repond either!!!!
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!
By the way im using Dell Dimension 8100 w/ WindowsME.

- If you have a startup disk which I hope you have then you can us it to boot to a dos prompt. Then do the following:
1. Type Scanreg /restore at the prompt
2. You will get a screen where you can select which registry backup to use
3. Choose your backup and press Restore
4. When ready you'll be prompted to Restart your computer

I would if i could...nothing will respond except the freaking recycle bin! Lol

What does the Startup disk look like and what does it say on it?

- You should have made a start up floppy disk in case of a situation like this. It is made by going to the control panel and selecting add/remove programs and then selecting on the tab to make a startup disk. Since it does not sound like you have one then you can make one by downloading this. When you get started back up you need to make that start up disk.
