Home Networking issue - cannot see network
I'm having a network issue, not wireless.....
5 pc's on the network, all connected to a D Link 8 port switch, then to a Linksys VPN/4 port wired router. Have run the network wizard on XP pro. On my PC I have files to share both in C/Shared docs and on a USB 2 external hard drive. I'm also sharing printers....Everything is fine...but after so long..the network disappears.....Can't see my PC, also get the error message "cannot access"network", may not have permission, etc.Cannot see the other PC's on the network. I reboot my pc and everything is fine. At first thought it might be a USB issue; the drive going to sleep and not waking up, but that is not the case. I have the files on the drive set to "share". Power management in the bios and Windows is off.
My IT guy at work suggested I create multiple users on my pc, identical to those on the network and have them log on their respective pc's. He felt it might be an authentication issue.
I should mention that when the other pc's can't see the network and see the shared files on my pc, I have no trouble seeing the files on those pc's....It seems that my pc is the issue. I do have Zonealarm running as well....Turning that off or on seems to make no difference...
Any suggestions or possible web sites that might help?

Windows Xp I hope.
Did you run the create a network via the network wizard on each computer?
Is the firewall down on each computer?
I have an eight port router all sharing everything and it never goes away.
I don't think it has to do with the users being on your computer. I would
follow the set-up wizard and make sure the selections of how you connect
was selected correctly.Good Luck
