Ram/Sound

I have no sound on my computer since additional RAM was installed. I have asked about this problem before and while I did get timely responses, any downloads or suggestions did not work. Someone told me today that when you increase RAM on a Dell computer you must use only Dell products. Does anyone know if this is true? We used Memory Master from PNY Technologies. Any input is appreciated.  Thanks   (Dell 4100/Windows ME)

As long as the memory is the correct type there should not be a problem.   Since this happened, or apparently happened when you installed the memory, did you remove any hardware to get at the motherboard to install the memory?  If so, was it reinstalled correctly?  Were any cables disturbed, etc?  Installing additional memory, in itself, would not cause a device, such as the soiund device, to stop working.

Was the speaker(s) disconnected from the PC and if so, was the speakers reconnected to the correct jack (usually the green jack for speakers)  Or if it wasn't disconnected, check the speaker cable to make sure the plug is fully insterted.
